Cinecittà Studios, simply knowns as Cinecittà, are an excellent set of Theatrical and Film studios of international importance built in Rome in 1937. They are Italy’s most important film studios but are also sets for TV productions and foreign film productions. More than 3000 films have been produced here, 90 of which have been shortlisted for an Oscar (47 won the statue). Many famous film directors have worked here: from Federico Fellini to Francis Ford Coppola; from Luchino Visconti to Martin Scorsese. It’s still possible to visit the external sets of Roma Antica, Firenze Medioevale and Gangs of New York. The exhibition tells of the big films produced here and teaches about the different crafts of the cinema industry. For students, several workshops including scenography rehearsals, dress rehearsals etc.
