Arrive in the late afternoon or evening on the beautiful northern coast of Tuscany, known as ‘Versilia’, where hotels, restaurants, clubs, seaside resorts, and high society are always changing with the times! Among the shops, the Art Nouveau buildings, and the large and beautiful seafront promenade, you can savour authentic tastes and flavours!
Arrive at the hotel and accommodation in the rooms. Meeting with the tour leader and briefing to explain the tour programme. Dinner and overnight stay in the hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the tour leader . Departure by coach to Carrara, the largest marble basins in the world, and meeting with the local guide for the visit to a marble quarry called “Cava a cielo aperto” – Opencast Quarry -. During the visit to the quarry, the guide will inform you about the birth of the quarry, the machinery and its use, the extraction techniques, and of course, information about marble as a material, used in various fields.
Return to the hotel for lunch.
In the afternoon, a guided tour of the splendid and unique city of Pisa, known throughout the world for its famous leaning tower and its architectural masterpieces. Meet with the guide who will illustrate the wonders of this city, enclosed mainly in the famous Piazza dei Miracoli. We will see the Leaning Tower (outside), the Baptistery (inside), and other wonderful monuments before visiting the interior of the Cathedral. At the end of the visit, free time will be allowed for the inevitable photo ops.
In the evening, return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel, meeting with the tour leader, and departure by bus to visit the Cinque Terre, the 5 most famous picturesque villages in the world: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza, and Monterosso. An intense and unforgettable day discovering one of the most enchanting landscapes in the world, small villages suspended between the sea and the land, raised by sheer cliffs, surrounded by hills and vineyards. Meeting with the local guide in La Spezia and departure by train to Manarola, one of the smallest villages of the Cinque Terre, renowned for its wines, its name derives from ‘Mulino’. The rocky harbour is not only the landing place for boats but also one of the most panoramic points to admire the town and its deep waters. We continue on to Monterosso, which overlooks the sea in an inlet protected by the characteristic terraces of the Cinque Terre. Lemons, vines, and olive trees seem to chase each other swiftly across the crystal-clear waters, flanked by unspoiled nature. Lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon, we return to La Spezia on a splendid boat trip, stopping in Portovenere to visit this picturesque town between the sky and the sea. Arrive at the port of La Spezia and return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel and free morning at the disposal of participants to freely enjoy the beautiful Versilia and go shopping in the magnificent boutiques and shops or attend one of the typical local markets. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, departure by coach to Lucca, surrounded by walls and rich in squares, churches, and towers. Meet with the local guide to discover the beauties of this elegant city: Piazza S. Michele in Foro, with the Romanesque church of the same name, located right in the centre of the city, Piazza Napoleone, from where one can admire the Palazzo Ducale and the Teatro del Giglio, the Cathedral of San Martino (exterior), which houses the famous sarcophagus of Ilaria del Carretto, a work by Jacopo della Quercia, and the “Holy Face” of Christ. Passing in front of the house where Giacomo Puccini was born and entering the characteristic medieval streets to reach the elegant Via Fillungo, full of important shops, it is inevitable to admire the Guinigi Tower, the Tower of the Hours, the Piazza Anfiteatro, famous for its elliptical shape and surrounded by houses and shops that make it unique, until arriving at the Basilica of San Frediano (exterior), which has a splendid mosaic in Byzantine style on its façade. Don’t miss a walk on the famous 16th-century walls.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel and meeting with the tour leader. Departure by bus to visit Lerici, a picturesque town overlooking the famous “Golfo dei Poeti” – Gulf of the Poets -. Walk from the Blue Venus Beach to Piazza Garibaldi, Lerici’s main square full of bars and restaurants, passing by the Lido di Lerici, this square offers an incredible view of the sea and the marina. It is the beating heart of the town, where many colourful houses stand and narrow alleys meander. In Lerici, you can also admire the Tower of San Rocco, dating back to Roman times, and the Church of San Francesco d’Assisi. Return to the hotel for lunch.
In the afternoon, transfer by coach to Pietrasanta, where a local guide will be waiting for you to visit this beautiful town famous for the beauty of its architecture and the artistic treatment of marble, which was the refuge of important sculptors such as Michelangelo and Botero. It has a historical centre full of monuments and a fabulous Piazza del Duomo, overlooked by the city’s most important buildings: the Cathedral of San Martino, the Praetorian Palace, the Civic Theatre, the Church of Sant’Agostino, the Tower of the Hours, as well as special works that are exhibited in rotation by the most famous artists (Botero, Mirò, Dali, etc.). At the end of the guided tour, visit to a winery and wine tasting.
