These underground limestone caves are situated in the territory of Genga, province of Ancona, in the heart of the Natural Park of Gola della Rossa and Frasassi.
Imagine hundreds of million years of changes, during which the water melted small quantities of limestone and created the unusual and most fantastic shapes. It’s like a subterranean complex of around 3 kms set on 8 different geological levels: these are Frasassi Caves, one of the most fascinating underground routes in the world.
The visit is unforgettable thanks to the beauty of its scenery, which includes stalactites, stalagmites, alabaster and small lakes with almost surreal crystal waters.
A tour of 1 hour and 15 minutes (approx) is accessible to everyone at a costant temperature of 14 degrees all year round.
It’s also possible to follow educational trails of around 2 hours, with some level of difficulty, to learn a bit of speleology and scientific measurements.
