Isola Bella is the biggest of the three Borromee islands. Tourists wiill be able to visit the Baroque Palace, which occupies almost the entire island. The inside, elegant and sumptuously decorated, hosts a collection of Flemish tapestries. The underground rooms feature artificial caves with shell encrusted walls, decorated with nymphs and black marble. The Palace park is a typical Italian style garden, with ten terraces overlapping in a pyramid style, adorned by statues, fountains, rare shrubs, exotic plants and flowers. The higher part of the gardens, nicknamed “the amphitheatre” due to the performances that used to take place there, is dominated by the unicorn, the Borromeo Family’s effigy.
